MXDVRAIL
MXDVRAIL is a new numerical tool to predict the risks of fatigue and failure of rail, under service loads. This allows you to define an optimized maintenance policy. Easy to use, it is based on original and innovative calculation methods and criteria, developed by researchers at the Ecole Polytechnique. These methods allow:

-         To evaluate the asymptotic mechanical states in the rail (plastic deformations and residual stresses fields) resulting from a very large number of cycle loads.

-         To take into account non-proportional complex three-dimensional stress fields generated by rail traffic through the use of Dang Van's multiaxial fatigue criterion to predict the risk of fatigue cracks initiation as well as their location (shelling, kidney shape crack, squat, head-check...)

-         To predict the crack propagation until the final rupture. This is a problem of crack propagation under multiaxial loading in the presence of non-homogeneous residual stresses is very difficult to address. Modeling makes it possible to find the forms and kinetics of the cracks propagation observed in the rail.

-         To access a comprehensive approach to rails and wheels design and maintenance.
